Taliban arrest British couple

After capturing Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban have taken every possible step and confined women to their homes, the Taliban banned women’s education and deprived more than 1.4 million girls from going to school.

A 70-year-old British couple running an education program in Afghanistan has lost contact with their children after being detained. The British couple’s organization Reblood provides education and training to businesses, educational and non-governmental organizations Peter Reynolds and his wife Barbie were arrested by the Taliban for running an education program for women in Afghanistan for 18 years.

Peter and Barbie were arrested on February 1 as soon as they arrived at their home in Nayak in Bamiyan province, which was approved by the authorities despite Taliban sanctions, the BBC said.

After the arrest, the couple kept in touch with the children through messages, but three days later the messages stopped coming.

The children of the British couple appealed for the release of the parents in a letter to the Taliban. Their daughter Sarah Antoisel told the media:”This is a very wrong move of the Taliban. My mother is 75 years old and father is about 80, she needs heart medicine since the ministroke. He just wanted to help the country he loves. Their daughter thinking that she has been detained for educating mothers and children is absolutely unacceptable.

We contacted the British Foreign Office. But the UK does not recognize the Taliban government and does not have an embassy in Kabul, due to which the authorities are struggling to provide assistance, their daughter said.

She said that her parents should be released so that they can continue education, training and service in Afghanistan.
