Trump appoints 13-year-old cancer survivor Secret Service agent

05 March, 2025 11:32

President Donald Trump on Wednesday surprised a 13-year-old cancer survivor DJ Daniel by appointing him a Secret Service agent.

The appointment made DJ the youngest-ever Secret Service agent.

“Tonight, DJ, we are going to do you the biggest honour of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service. Thank you. DJ,” said Trump while addressing the joint session of Congress.

Following the president’s order, Curran immediately handed over a badge to the teen, with lawmaker chanting “DJ! DI!”.

Trump narrated the story of DJ, who always “dreamed of being a police officer”, but life gave him limited time.

He was diagnosed with rare brain cancer in 2018 and doctors had given him five months to live. From that moment, DJ and his father explored every possibility to fulfill his dream.

Finally, on Wednesday, DJ was sworn in as an honorary law enforcement officer, receiving admiration and appreciation from those present.
