Residents of Dubai and the UAE are likely to get four or five public holidays for Eid Al Fitr 2025. However, the exact holiday schedule depends on the moon sighting for the month of Shawwal. The UAE’s moon sighting committee will meet on Ramadan 29 (March 29, 2025) to confirm the official date.

Eid Al Fitr is observed on the first of Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan. Since Islamic months last either 29 or 30 days, the date of Eid depends on the crescent moon’s sighting.

Expected Holiday Schedule in Dubai, UAE

• If the Shawwal moon is sighted on March 29, Eid Al Fitr 2025 will be on March 30 (Sunday). This would mean a four-day break from March 30 to April 1, including the Saturday weekend.
• If the moon is not sighted, Eid will fall on March 31 (Monday), extending the holiday break to five days (March 30 to April 2).

According to the Dubai Astronomy Group, Ramadan is expected to last 30 days, making Eid Al Fitr likely to be on March 31. If confirmed, residents can expect a five-day holiday.

The final decision will be made by the UAE’s official moon-sighting committee on March 29.
