Trump calls Putin’s statement on US ceasefire ‘incomplete’
US President Donald Trump has dismissed Russian President Putin’s statement on the US proposal for a ceasefire as incomplete.
Russian President Vladimir Putin told a news conference on Thursday that Russia was ready for a ceasefire, but Ukraine would have to accept more conditions.
The Russian president said that he supports the ceasefire proposal, but there are some issues that we need to discuss with the US president.
However, Trump, during a meeting with Nato secretary general at the White House, described the Russian president’s statement as promising but “incomplete”.
He said that serious discussions are going on with Russian president and others, hoping that Russia will respond positively to the ceasefire proposal.
Ukrainian President Zelensky called Putin’s response to the ceasefire proposal “clever” and called for more sanctions on Russia to force it into a peace deal.
Zelensky said that the Russian president often does this, he does not deny directly, but does something that delays things or makes ordinary decisions impossible.
The Ukrainian president claimed that the Russian president is preparing to reject the US proposal for a ceasefire. Putin is afraid to tell the US president that he wants to continue the war.
It should be noted that in the Ukraine-US talks held in Saudi Arabia recently. Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, accepting the US proposal.
