Las Vegas police confirm Tesla service center fires were deliberate
Las Vegas Metro Police report that Molotov cocktails and a firearm were used to ignite vehicles at a Tesla collision center.
According to the Clark County Fire Department, multiple calls were received about a car fire at 2:44 a.m. on Tuesday. The incident occurred near Jones Boulevard and Badura Avenue, leading to a temporary shutdown of the surrounding area.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames by 2:54 a.m. The fire was limited to two Tesla vehicles, though five other cars sustained damage from the heat. Officials stated that the flames were put out before reaching any vehicle batteries.
Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren revealed that an unignited Molotov cocktail was found inside a Tesla and is being analyzed as evidence. Additionally, the word “resist” was spray-painted on the Tesla building. Koren, along with FBI Las Vegas Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans, confirmed that the incident was a deliberate attack.
Authorities believe the attack was an isolated event and that there is no ongoing threat. The suspect was last seen wearing black clothing, but investigators have yet to determine whether more individuals were involved.
National reports suggest a pattern of Tesla vehicles being set on fire, often as protests against Elon Musk’s political affiliations and involvement with the Trump administration. The FBI is investigating possible links between this case and similar incidents across the country.
During a Tesla event at the White House last week, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to those targeting Tesla with criminal acts. “You do it to Tesla and you do it to any company, we’re going to catch you and you’re going to go through hell,” Trump stated.
Elon Musk responded on X, calling the attack “terrorism.” In another post, he condemned the violence, saying, “This level of violence is insane and deeply wrong. Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve these evil attacks.
Police state that the area will remain closed while the investigation is underway. Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren also confirmed that the suspect fired three shots at the Tesla vehicles.
