US slaps export sanctions on Pakistani companies

26 March, 2025 19:48

The United States has imposed export sanctions on 70 companies from Pakistan (19), China, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, France, Senegal, the United Kingdom and Africa.

According to the British broadcasting agency, the United States claims that the activities of these companies are contrary to its national security and foreign policy interests. These sanctions have been imposed at a time when the global trade war and strategic competition are increasing.

This is not the first time that the US has imposed such sanctions on Pakistani companies. In 2024, the United States imposed similar sanctions on companies linked to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.

In 2021, the United States imposed sanctions on 13 Pakistani companies accusing them of supporting nuclear and missile programs. In 2018, seven Pakistani engineering companies were added to the US watch list.

According to experts, US sanctions can not only affect the defense and trade industry of Pakistan and China, but can also increase economic tensions globally.

There has been no official response from Pakistan yet, but experts say that these sanctions can further strain Pak-US trade relations.
