Over 50 countries reach out to Trump for tariff cuts
More than 50 countries have reached out to the United States to start trade talks, top White House officials say after President Donald Trump announced new tariffs.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant defended the tariffs, saying more than 50 countries have approached tariff relief. He said that these countries know that they will suffer more revenue losses, adding there is no risk of an economic crisis. Only Trump can decide whether to ease US tariffs.
According to US media, Trump has shaken the world’s economies by imposing tariffs, as a result of these tariffs, the US stock market has decreased by about $6 trillion and the fears of a global economic crisis have increased.
Taiwan has announced not to impose retaliatory tariffs on the United States and has vowed to invest more, while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has also left for Washington to negotiate tariffs.
