Trump praises Erdogan in a meeting with Netanyahu

US President Donald Trump has said that the Turkish president has done what no one could do in 2,000 years.

“I congratulated the Turkish president on the victory of the rebels in Syria and the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad,” he said.

“I told the Turkish president that you did what no one could do in 2,000 years, you captured Syria, even if it was under different names, but that’s the reality.

Trump said: “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan denied any role in Syria, but I insisted that it was you, but let’s not matter.”

He said this in response to a question from an Israeli journalist about Turkiye’s role on the Syrian issue.

He added: “I have a very good relationship with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I like him and he likes me too.”

“If you have a problem with Turkiye, I can solve it,” Trump told Netanyahu.
