Pahalgam false flag: India arrests Gen Kumar for refusing anti-Pakistan adventure after Pahalgam

29 April, 2025 16:14

Indian army’s Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar has been taken into custody, sources said.

Reports emerged that Lieutenant General M.V. Suchindra Kumar, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army’s Northern Command, was relieved of his duties and taken into custody. This action followed the failure of a controversial operation in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which the Indian government reportedly attributes to significant intelligence and security lapses under Lt Gen Kumar’s leadership .

Sources indicate that Lt Gen Kumar was transported to New Delhi under tight security protocols. Upon arrival, he is expected to undergo counseling by the Army Chief, and a high-profile military inquiry has been initiated . The Indian Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, has also ordered a formal investigation into the incident .

In the wake of these developments, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma has been appointed as the new commander of the Northern Command. Lt Gen Sharma, an infantry officer with over three decades of service, has held key positions including Director General of Military Operations and Director General of Information Warfare . His appointment comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.

The Northern Command, headquartered in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, is responsible for operations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the borders with China. Lt Gen Sharma’s leadership will be crucial in navigating the current security challenges in the region .
