US urges Pakistan, India not to escalate tensions

The United States has urged India and Pakistan not to escalate the situation amid escalating tensions following the Pahalgam attack.
US State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce said in a press briefing that both Pakistan and India are being contacted on the situation in Kashmir and they are being told not to escalate tensions.
Responding to a question, Bruce said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will talk to the foreign ministers of Pakistan and India today or tomorrow. He is also encouraging other national leaders and foreign ministers to reach out to Pakistan and India on the issue.
The State Department spokesman said that steps are being taken on this issue on a daily basis. The minister is talking directly to his counterparts in Pakistan and India and it is expected that it will certainly have the same effect as the minister talks to other people.
