US backs Pakistan’s responsible role amid tensions with India

02 May, 2025 16:32

US Vice President JD Vance has said that Pakistan is a responsible country and the United States also hopes that Pakistan will cooperate in the investigation.

According to a foreign news agency, the US Vice President said in his statement that India should respond to the Pahalgam incident in a way that does not create a wider regional conflict.

He said that Pakistan is a responsible country, and the United States also hopes that Pakistan will cooperate in the investigation and that the terrorists will be found and dealt with.

It should be remembered that Pakistan had offered to form a UN commission to investigate the Pahalgam incident.

On the other hand, the United States has called on India and Pakistan to find a “responsible solution” to the rising tensions after the deadly attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir on April 22.

State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce made this statement on Thursday during her daily press briefing. She said the U.S. is staying in touch with both countries and wants peace in the region.

“We are in constant communication. We are asking both sides for a responsible resolution,” Bruce said.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. In the calls, he stressed the need for long-term peace and regional stability.

Bruce added that President Donald Trump’s administration is also closely involved in the situation.

“The President assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week that the U.S. stands firmly with India against terrorism,” she said.

The U.S. strongly condemned the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 tourists. The attack has worsened relations between India and Pakistan, both of whom are nuclear powers.

The U.S. wants both countries to avoid further conflict and take steps toward dialogue.

“Secretary Rubio encouraged both India and Pakistan to work together to prevent more violence,” Bruce said.

Pakistan has denied the Indian claim that it was behind the attack. The Pakistani government has requested an international investigation to find the real culprits.
