The Labor Party has once again won a historic victory in the Australian elections.
The Australian news sources said that Labor Party’s Anthony Albanese was elected for a second consecutive three-year term, a record in its 21-year history.
The opposition leader, while accepting the election results, admitted his defeat. He said that we could not perform as well as required in the election campaign.
According to the Australian Electoral Commission, the left-wing ruling Labor Party won 70 seats, while the conservative opposition coalition won only 24 seats. Independents and smaller party candidates won 13 seats. Some results are awaited. The number of seats for the ruling party could be as high as 76.
Moreover, if the Labor Party loses two or more seats, it will have to form a coalition government. The last time a coalition government was formed in Australia was in 2010.
