Dhruv Rathee slam their own media over fake war coverage

Indian YouTuber and influencer Dhruv Rathee, known for his fact-based, analytical content, has strongly criticized Indian mainstream media for spreading misinformation during the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.

In a viral Instagram video, Rathee pointed to multiple headlines and news clips, saying, “This news was fake. This one was also fake. This too was fake news, and so was this.” He claimed that nearly 90% of the news aired on Indian channels last night was completely false, especially regarding border activity and military operations.

Rathee urged his followers to stop watching such news channels and share his video with others to raise awareness. “If anyone in your family is still wasting time watching these news channels, please share this video with them so they can understand what a big joke is being played on the people of this country,” he said.

He further added, “At such a sensitive time, spreading fake news and creating panic among the public is unacceptable. Stop watching these national news channels immediately.”

A viral clip posted on X (formerly Twitter) added to the criticism. It featured an Indian news anchor speaking about a drone incident when a reporter unknowingly left his mic on. The reporter was heard saying, “First, they’ll ask for an update. Then, after running the update themselves, they’ll say, ‘Why did you give fake news?’” — revealing how misinformation may be casually circulated on live TV.

The video has sparked renewed conversations about media ethics, accountability, and the importance of fact-checking—especially during moments of national tension.
