Mohammed bin Salman welcomes Pakistan-India ceasefire, Urges Peace in Region

14 May, 2025 14:47

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has voiced support for the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He emphasized the need for peaceful talks to settle long-standing issues between the two countries.

His statement came during key diplomatic meetings held recently. These talks also took place as U.S. President Donald Trump visited Saudi Arabia for the first time since taking office. The ceasefire agreement was reportedly brokered with help from the United States.

The Crown Prince spoke about the growing partnership between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United States. He said these ties are becoming stronger and are important for peace and development in the region.

He also stressed that Saudi Arabia is fully committed to peace and stability. According to the Prince, the GCC is focused on solving regional conflicts through dialogue and cooperation.

During the same speech, Mohammed bin Salman also discussed other global issues. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and welcomed the U.S. decision to remove some sanctions on Syria.

Analysts say the Crown Prince’s words show Saudi Arabia’s careful and balanced approach to diplomacy. The country wants to maintain good ties with both Pakistan and India, while also playing a larger role in resolving Middle East tensions.

This recent move by Saudi Arabia shows that it is trying to act as a peacebuilder in a region often troubled by conflict.
