India drops ‘Pak’ from sweets after military defeat – Sparking Online Reactions

23 May, 2025 16:39

May 23, 2025 — In a surprising move, India has reportedly renamed some of its famous traditional sweets to remove the word “Pak” from their names. This word is common in many South Asian desserts. The decision has sparked debate and criticism across the region.

According to reports, sweets like Mysore Pak and Moti Pak are now being sold under new names — Mysore Shri and Moti Shri. This name change follows a recent military clash between India and Pakistan, where India is said to have faced a serious setback.

Tensions After Operation Sindoor

India had launched a military action called “Operation Sindoor” targeting Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. In response, Pakistan carried out a counter-attack named “Bunyan Mursas” (Iron Wall). According to media sources, Pakistan reportedly shot down five Indian jets during the clash.

Military experts say the name change is a reaction to India’s failure in the operation. They believe this is a symbolic move meant to distract the public and boost morale after the defeat.

Mixed Reactions Online

The move has caused a storm on social media. Some Indian users have mocked their own government, saying the name changes won’t fix the situation. One user wrote, “Changing names won’t change reality.”

On the other hand, many Pakistani users responded with sarcasm, saying India is trying to hide its military defeat with petty acts.

Not the First Time

This isn’t the first time India has made unusual changes to show its opposition to Pakistan. However, analysts say such actions only show India’s frustration and do little to affect Pakistan’s position.

They also warn that such moves could increase tensions between the two countries rather than helping in peace efforts.
