36 Palestinians Martyred in Gaza on Second Day of Eid Amid Israeli Aggression

08 June, 2025 12:29

At least 36 Palestinians martyred by Israeli firing in Gaza, including 6 near US-backed aid center.

According to the French news agency, Gaza’s Civil Defense Agency stated that Israeli forces killed at least 36 Palestinians on Saturday, including six individuals who were shot near an American-supported aid center.

These killings occurred near the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) aid center located in the southern Rafah district. This center had recently resumed operations after a temporary suspension following previous killings in the same area.

Meanwhile, a humanitarian boat named Madeleine, carrying 12 activists including Greta Thunberg, approached Gaza to protest the ongoing Israeli naval blockade and deliver aid. The vessel, organized by international activists, has entered Egyptian waters, and its organizers are coordinating with legal bodies to ensure safe passage. The Israeli navy has maintained its blockade since before the October 7, 2023, attacks and has pledged to continue enforcement.

In a separate development, GHF suspended food aid distribution, blaming alleged threats from Hamas—an accusation Hamas denies. GHF has announced plans to reopen two aid centers while reviewing security risks.

Gaza’s government criticized GHF’s aid efforts as a failure and expressed willingness to support UN-led humanitarian missions. Hamas has called on civilians to protect aid convoys and plans to deploy snipers near UN-managed routes to prevent looting by armed groups. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza remains dire, with the UN warning of widespread famine.
