Musk regrets social media comments about Trump

11 June, 2025 17:54

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has said he regrets some recent social media posts he made about U.S. President Donald Trump. The comments were part of a public disagreement between the two high-profile figures.

The issue began on June 3, when Musk criticized President Trump’s proposed “Big Beauty Bill” in an interview. Musk said the bill could hurt the Department of Government Efficiency, which he had helped manage through a past partnership with the government. He warned it might worsen the national budget deficit.

Musk later posted strong statements on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), including a now-deleted message suggesting a link between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein — a claim the White House quickly denied. He also deleted another post where he appeared to support calls for Trump’s impeachment.

These posts led to a public fallout between Musk and the White House. Tesla’s stock dropped for a short time during the controversy but has since recovered.

On June 11, Musk posted on X: “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. I went a little too far.” This appears to be an attempt to calm the situation.

Meanwhile, on June 9, President Trump told reporters he might consider using Starlink — Musk’s satellite internet company — for White House communications. Trump also said, “I wish Elon Musk well,” and hinted they could talk again in the future.
