AHMEDABAD: On Thursday, June 12, 2025, an Air India plane crashed just minutes after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport. The aircraft, Flight AI171, was flying to London Gatwick. It had 242 people on board.

The plane went down in a crowded residential area called Meghani Nagar. Right after the crash, large flames and smoke were seen rising from the scene. Residents said the impact shook nearby buildings.

Local rescue teams responded quickly. Fire brigades and ambulances were sent within minutes. Many injured people have been taken to nearby hospitals. However, the number of survivors is still not confirmed.

Investigators from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have reached the crash site. They will look into possible engine failure or other technical problems.
