13 June, 2025 09:36

Israel officially began war against Iran, launching airstrikes on nuclear and military sites, which claimed the life of IRGC Commander Hossein Salami.

According to American and Israeli media, Israel launched airstrikes on dozens of sites across Iran early Friday morning, including the northeastern areas of the capital, Tehran, where loud explosions were heard.

Iranian media confirmed attacks in northern, western, and central Tehran.

The Israeli Defense Minister announced that Israel has launched a preemptive strike and declared a state of emergency in the country.

Israeli military officials stated that nuclear and military targets in Iran were hit, with dozens of Israeli fighter jets participating in the assault.

According to an American newspaper, Israel targeted six military installations, including residences of Iran’s military leadership.

Israeli Prime Minister Confirms Launch of Operation “Rising Lion”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the ongoing air campaign against Iran, stating that Israel has launched “Operation Rising Lion,” aimed at neutralizing the threat from Iran. Netanyahu stated that just moments ago, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military campaign to push back the growing threat from Iran. He claimed that the operation will continue until the threat is completely eliminated. He added that Israel is determined to ensure Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.

Netanyahu emphasized that Iran’s recent steps posed an unprecedented threat, and if not stopped, Iran could become capable of building a nuclear weapon within months or even less than a year.

He stressed that Iran’s nuclear program is not only a threat to Israel but also to regional and global peace.

IRGC Commander Hossein Salami Martyred in Israeli Strikes

Iranian media confirmed that Major General Hossein Salami, head of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in the Israeli airstrikes.

According to reports, dozens of Israeli airstrikes were carried out on various targets, including the IRGC headquarters in Tehran.

Iranian scientists Farid Abbasi and Mohammad Mahdi, along with Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, were also reportedly killed in the attacks.

Brigadier General Amir

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on an IRGC facility inside Iran, according to a public statement by the IRGC.

He had led the force for 16 years and was a central figure in Iran’s missile and drone programs.

Israel launched major airstrikes early this morning, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and top military officials. The strikes resulted in the deaths of several senior figures in Iran’s military leadership.

Civilian Casualties Reported

Iranian media also reported that residential areas in Tehran were hit, leading to multiple civilian deaths, including children.

Nuclear Scientists Martyred

News agency, Tasnim reported that Israeli airstrikes martyred two prominent Iranian nuclear scientists, Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi and Fereydoun Abbasi, as well as Major General Gholamali Rashid, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters.

US Denies Involvement in Israeli Airstrikes

Following the Israeli strikes, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio released a statement calling the attack of Israel on Iran unilateral. He asserted that the United States is not involved in these operations. He added that the top priority of the US remains the safety of American forces stationed in the Middle East.

Iran Vows Retaliation

In response, Iran’s military leadership issued a stern warning.

A representative of Iran’s Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, Ebrahim Rezai, warned of a strong retaliatory strike on Tel Aviv.

Spokesperson for the Iranian armed forces, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, stated that the enemy has made a grave mistake by attacking Iran and a forceful response will follow. Israel, and those who aided them—including the United States—will bear the consequences.

Iran Strikes Back

Iran launched over 100 missiles and drones, including cruise and ballistic missiles as well as suicide drones, in a major attack on Israel—described as the largest Iranian assault to date.

This caused fear and panic in Israel, with citizens rushing to shelters. The Israeli Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack and said they were working to intercept the drones. Israeli army spokesperson Brigadier General Efi Defrin reported that 100 UAVs were launched and successfully neutralized.

In response, Israel declared a state of emergency, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urging citizens to stay in shelters and convening a National Security meeting. Israeli media noted that former US President Trump had been informed about the attack a week earlier.

Pakistan’s Response

Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent military strikes against Iran, labeling them as “unjustified and illegitimate aggression” and a violation of Iran’s sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.

In an official statement, Pakistan affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people. It warned that such provocations threaten regional and global peace, and called on the international community and the UN to intervene, halt the hostilities, and hold Israel accountable.

Russia on Israel strike

Russia has condemned Israel’s reported military strikes on Iranian facilities, warning that the sudden escalation poses a serious threat to regional and global stability.

The Kremlin expressed alarm over what it described as a dangerous increase in tensions between Israel and Iran and urged both sides to show restraint.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, speaking to Russian news agency Interfax, said the situation represents a “direct threat to peace” in the Middle East. “This sharp and unexpected increase in conflict intensity between Israel and Iran has created serious risks for regional peace,” Peskov stated, emphasizing Russia’s call for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic channels.

According to Israeli officials, the military operation targeted key Iranian sites, including nuclear facilities, ballistic missile production centers, and locations tied to Iran’s top military leadership. Israel maintains that the strikes were necessary to prevent Iran from further developing its nuclear weapons capabilities.
