Saudi Arabia Responds Strongly to Israel’s Deadly Airstrikes on Iran
RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Israel’s recent deadly airstrikes on Iran, targeting its nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, and military commanders.
The attacks included explosions at Iran’s main uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, as reported by Iranian media and eyewitnesses. In response, Israel declared a state of emergency, anticipating retaliatory missile and drone strikes from Iran.
Iranian state television reported that Hossein Salami, the commander of the elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, was killed and that the unit’s headquarters in Tehran was hit. The strike also reportedly killed several children in a residential area of the capital.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation in a recorded message, saying, “We are at a decisive moment in Israel’s history.”
Saudi Arabia expressed “strong condemnation and denunciation of the blatant Israeli aggressions against the brotherly Islamic Republic of Iran,” calling the attacks a violation of Iran’s sovereignty and international laws.
Israeli officials announced the launch of “Operation Rising Lion,” a targeted military campaign aimed at neutralizing what Israel describes as the Iranian threat to its survival. Netanyahu said the operation would continue for as long as necessary to eliminate the threat.
The Israeli military reported striking “dozens” of nuclear and military targets, including the Natanz uranium enrichment site. An Israeli official stated that Iran possesses enough nuclear material to produce 15 bombs within days.
In addition to air strikes, Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency reportedly conducted covert sabotage missions inside Iran to damage strategic missile sites and air defense systems, according to Axios, which cited a senior Israeli official.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport was closed indefinitely, and its air defense units were placed on high alert in preparation for potential Iranian retaliation.
