Iran Appoints New IRGC Aerospace Chief After Israeli Airstrike Kills Top Generals

14 June, 2025 16:38

Iran has appointed Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi as the new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force. This key decision comes after the death of his predecessor, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, who was reportedly martyred in a recent Israeli airstrike.

General Hajizadeh was a central figure in Iran’s missile and aerospace development. His loss is a major blow to Iran’s military, especially during rising tensions in the region. Iran moved quickly to appoint General Mousavi to keep operations steady and maintain morale.

The Israeli strike also killed other senior Iranian officials. These include General Mehdi Rabbani, Deputy Chief of Military Operations, and General Gholamreza Mehrabi, the Chief of Intelligence. Their deaths mark a serious hit to Iran’s defense leadership.

Iran has condemned the Israeli attacks and warned of a strong response. Experts warn that the situation could escalate further if retaliation continues.

General Mousavi takes command at a sensitive time. With deep experience in Iran’s missile programs, he is expected to continue key projects and possibly launch new defense strategies in response to the current crisis. His role will be crucial in the coming weeks as global attention stays fixed on the region.
