Iran Cancels Nuclear Negotiations with US, Trump Vows Strong Response If Attacked
Muscat— Iran has cancelled its scheduled nuclear negotiations with the United States in Muscat, citing Washington’s alleged support for recent attacks on Iranian territory. Tehran declared that dialogue with a country it considers complicit in aggression is now “meaningless.”
The decision was announced just hours before former US President Donald Trump issued a forceful warning to Iran on Sunday. “If we are attacked in any way, shape, or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before,” Trump stated.
Trump denied any US involvement in recent Israeli airstrikes that targeted Iranian nuclear and intelligence sites, according to 24NewsHD TV Channel. Despite his warning, Trump left the door open to diplomacy, saying, “We can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel and end this bloody conflict.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the possibility of further dialogue with the United States, asserting that the attacks on Iranian territory could not have occurred without US support. “There is no longer any justification to continue negotiations with the US,” Araghchi said.
In a further escalation, Iran threatened to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if Western powers move to reimpose sanctions. Tehran’s permanent representative to the United Nations sent a formal letter to the UN Security Council, condemning the United Kingdom, France, and Germany for issuing what it called “baseless accusations” against Iran.
The envoy warned that any resumption of sanctions would prompt Iran to formally exit the NPT — a move that risks deepening instability in global nuclear diplomacy and further inflaming tensions in the region.
