Air India Flight AI315 Makes Emergency Landing in Hong Kong After Technical Issue

An Air India flight heading from Hong Kong to New Delhi was forced to turn back on Monday, June 16, after the pilot noticed a technical issue shortly after takeoff.

The flight, identified as AI315, was operated on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. According to flight tracking data, the aircraft turned around less than 30 minutes into its journey and returned to Hong Kong International Airport.

Safe Landing Confirmed

A spokesperson for Airport Authority Hong Kong confirmed the incident. “A passenger flight, AI315, operated by Air India from Hong Kong to New Delhi made a return to Hong Kong International Airport and requested local standby at around 1:00 PM today,” they told Newsweek.

The plane landed safely at 1:15 PM, and airport operations were not affected by the emergency landing. All passengers and crew are reported to be safe. The airline has not yet released specific details about the technical fault.

Recent Air India Tragedy Still Fresh

The emergency incident comes just days after a major Air India crash that shocked the nation. Last week, another Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad, bound for London, killing 241 people and injuring dozens in a residential area.

The latest technical scare raises new concerns about aircraft safety and maintenance within the airline, especially following last week’s deadly disaster.

Investigation Expected

Air India is expected to conduct an internal investigation to determine what caused the technical issue on flight AI315. Aviation authorities in India and Hong Kong may also look into the matter.

Passengers were reportedly shifted to another flight or offered assistance by the airline. No injuries or onboard issues have been reported as of now.
