Netanyahu Denies Trump’s Khamenei Assassination Veto Report

16 June, 2025 00:10

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied media reports suggesting that U.S. President Donald Trump vetoed a plan to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Speaking to the media, Netanyahu said, “There is no truth to the report that Trump vetoed a Khamenei assassination plan.”

In a bold statement, the Israeli Prime Minister claimed that Israeli forces successfully eliminated the head and deputy head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence agency in Tehran. He also said that Iran was caught completely off-guard.

“Iran was surprised by our attack. Surprise is a major element of success,” Netanyahu remarked.

Netanyahu further alleged that Iran had attempted to transfer a nuclear weapon to the Houthi rebels, citing undisclosed intelligence sources. In response, he said Israel conducted preemptive strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

He confirmed that Israel destroyed the nuclear reactor in Isfahan, claiming that without it, Iran cannot produce nuclear weapons. In addition, the main nuclear facility in Natanz was also struck and heavily damaged, he said.

“If needed, we will take further action,” Netanyahu warned.

He described Iran’s current government as “extremely weakened” and hinted at the possibility of regime change in Tehran. Netanyahu also insisted that future nuclear negotiations with Iran would only be meaningful if Iran abandons uranium enrichment.

“Tehran is burning. We will complete our mission and return,” Netanyahu concluded.
