Iran downs Israeli drone, F-35 fighter jet: Report

18 June, 2025 14:47

According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Iranian forces have shot down an Israeli “Hermes drone” in Isfahan. IRIB also shared video footage showing the wreckage of the unmanned aircraft, which was reportedly being used for surveillance.

In another report, Iran’s official news agency IRNA, stated that Iranian forces also destroyed a hostile “F-35 fighter” in the Javadabad area of Varamin city. So far, there has been no response from Israel regarding these claims.

These reports come shortly after the Wall Street Journal said that Israel is running low on “defensive Arrow interceptors,” which are used to stop long-range missiles.

The Journal, quoting an unnamed US official, said that Washington has known about this shortage for months and has been supporting Israel by sending extra defense systems by land, sea, and air. The Israeli military declined to comment “on matters related to munitions.”

Meanwhile, the air war between Iran and Israel has now entered its sixth day, with both sides continuing to launch missile strikes. The Israeli military said Iran fired two waves of missiles into Israel early Wednesday, and explosions were heard over Tel Aviv.

Israel also warned people in a southwestern part of Tehran to evacuate so it could strike military targets. Iranian media reported that Israel targeted a university linked to the Revolutionary Guards and also launched attacks on the Khojir ballistic missile facility, which was previously struck in October.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue their military actions, with no signs of de-escalation yet.
