We Do Not Believe in Nuclear Weapons: Iranian Deputy FM
Tehran: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Majid Takht Ravanchi has issued a firm warning that Iran doesn’t believe in nuclear weapons but will be forced to retaliate if the United States aligns itself with Israel in the ongoing conflict.
In an interview with a US television outlet, Ravanchi stated, “We do not believe in nuclear weapons, but if the US gets involved in war alongside Israel, then we will be forced to respond in self-defence.” He further stressed that Iran will take action wherever it considers necessary, describing the stance as “straightforward and clear.”
The Iranian Deputy FM also confirmed that Iran has not sought to resume nuclear negotiations with either the US or Israel, indicating a hardening diplomatic position amid escalating regional tensions.
In a significant escalation, Iran launched a missile attack on Israel, deploying the advanced “Sejjil” ballistic missile for the first time. Iranian sources claimed the missile successfully penetrated Israeli defense systems and struck its targets. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the Sejjil missile has the capability to challenge and bypass Israel’s sophisticated air defenses.
In retaliation, Israeli sources reported launching additional missile strikes targeting Tehran, further intensifying the standoff.
Amid the heightened military activity, reports emerged that Iran temporarily shut down internet services, likely as a security measure during ongoing operations.
