Erdogan Blasts Israel at OIC Summit, vows support for Iran and Gaza
At the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit held in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly criticized Israel for its recent military actions, particularly a strike on Iran. Erdogan accused Israel of escalating tensions across the Middle East and attempting to destabilize the region.
Condemning the Israeli attack, Erdogan said, “Israel’s actions have once again stained its hands with the blood of innocent Muslims,” and supported Iran’s right to defend its sovereignty. He cautioned that Israel is deliberately widening the scope of conflict, putting regional peace at risk.
Erdogan called on the international community to act urgently to stop the violence and prevent a full-scale regional war. Expressing solidarity with Iran, he said, “the Iranian people will endure these trials and ultimately emerge victorious.”
Turning to the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Erdogan highlighted the suffering of Palestinians, stating that civilians, including children, are being targeted and starved in ongoing military operations. He described the crisis as a “humanitarian catastrophe.”
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan supported Erdogan’s stance, warning that Israel’s actions against Iran could lead to widespread destruction. “Israel is steering the entire region toward collapse,” Fidan said. He stressed the need for global unity and support for both Iran and the people of Gaza during this crisis.
