UAE flight suspensions airlines latest update

22 June, 2025 21:29

UAE airlines have announced extended suspensions of flights to several Middle Eastern and nearby destinations due to regional airspace closures, following U.S. strikes alongside Israel on Iranian nuclear sites.

The situation has raised serious concerns among aviation experts, who warn that U.S. involvement could worsen tensions and further disrupt air travel across the region. Affected destinations include Iran, Iraq, Syria, Israel, Jordan, and others.

Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi, has suspended all flights to Tel Aviv until July 15, citing the ongoing military conflict. The airline stated that passengers transiting through Abu Dhabi to any suspended destinations will not be accepted for travel from their original departure point. Alternative arrangements are being offered to affected passengers.

“This remains a highly dynamic situation,” Etihad said, warning of possible sudden airspace closures and disruptions. The airline is closely coordinating with authorities to ensure passenger safety.

Etihad also cancelled flight EY652 from Kuwait to Abu Dhabi on Sunday due to a technical issue, unrelated to the regional conflict.

Flydubai has suspended flights to and from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Israel, and St. Petersburg until June 30, 2025. The airline advised passengers to check rebooking options on its website and stay updated on their flight status.

Similarly, Emirates has temporarily halted all flights to Tehran, Baghdad, and Basra until June 30, 2025, while Air Arabia, based in Sharjah, suspended flights to Iran, Iraq, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan through the end of the month. Flights to Jordan have also been paused until June 25, 2025.

All airlines have urged passengers to check their bookings and expect possible delays, rerouting, or last-minute cancellations. Gulf countries, including the UAE, have called for restraint and de-escalation to prevent further disruption and ensure regional stability.
