Study to Tackle Climate Change at Holy Sites Begins

Saudi Arabia’s Regional Center for Climate Change has launched a scientific study based on modern scientific principles to analyze the effects of climate change on the environment in the holy sites of Mecca and Medina.

According to a report by the Arab News Agency, the aim of this study is to find comprehensive solutions to deal with extreme weather conditions.

The study aims to analyze the effects of weather on the city’s infrastructure, analyze extreme weather patterns using modern climate modeling techniques, and propose solutions to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.

Dr. Ayman Salem Ghulam, CEO of the National Center and General Supervisor of the Climate Change Center, said, “Research on climate change is also important because its main target is the climatic changes of the Two Holy Mosques, which are visited by pilgrims from all over the world.”

The focus of the research is to scientifically analyze weather conditions affecting the urban environment and to utilize global research while keeping the results in mind.

The Regional Center for Climate Change will also organize a number of workshops and discussions in collaboration with various government and research institutions, with the aim of finding comprehensive and sustainable solutions to reduce climate impacts in Makkah, Mushaira al-Maqdisah, and Madinah.

This study aims to strengthen national efforts to address climate challenges in strategically important regions.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Hajj in Saudi Arabia has launched an e-survey to assess the satisfaction of barbers regarding this year’s Hajj.

An electronic survey has been launched in several languages ​​to assess pilgrim satisfaction for the 1446 AH (2025) Hajj season.

This survey is for both Saudi and international pilgrims, in which pilgrims can express their opinions and impressions.
