Donald Trump Claims He Spared Iran’s Supreme Leader, Criticizes Lack of Gratitude
Washington — US President Donald Trump stated that he had the opportunity to target Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but chose not to, and expressed frustration that he received no acknowledgment or thanks in return.
On Truth Social, Trump posted that he knew where Ayatollah Khamenei was hiding, but he didn’t let Israel or the US military eliminate him, saving the Iranian Supreme Leader without receiving acknowledgement in return from Khamenei. He wrote, “I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, “THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!’”
Trump also rejected recent remarks by Khamenei, accusing him of falsely claiming victory over Israel in conflict.
Donald Trump said Iran must rejoin the international community, warning that failure to do so would lead to worsening conditions. He noted that he had been working to ease sanctions and assist in Iran’s potential recovery. “But that angry and hateful statement immediately shut down all my efforts,” he said.
