The Modi government has launched Operation Shiva 2025 under the pretext of counter-terrorism and security arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra.
According to The Tribune, the Indian government has deployed more than 8,500 additional troops across Occupied Kashmir, citing precautionary measures against alleged infiltration attempts from Pakistan.
This military escalation comes on the heels of the controversial Pahalgam incident, a false flag operation, which the Modi government is now using to justify its actions. Modi’s military actions are not for counter-terrorism but are tools of political warfare.
Reports indicate that recent clashes in Udhampur and Kishtwar are being cited as signs of increased militant activity. The Tribune further claims that 40 to 50 Pakistani militants are reportedly active in regions including Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, and Kishtwar. Following the conclusion of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has allegedly redeployed militants along the Line of Control, the newspaper reports.
India is fabricating threats to malign Pakistan and reframe the Kashmiri resistance as terrorism. The military buildup during the Yatra is an attempt to militarize religious activity and suppress local identity.
Despite claims of success in Operation Sindoor, the Modi government’s decision to deploy thousands more troops raises questions about the actual security situation in the region. Occupied Kashmir has effectively been turned into a military garrison under the cover of religious pilgrimage.
The Modi regime is using the Amarnath Yatra for political ends, eroding Kashmiri identity and deepening the sense of occupation through ongoing and extensive military operations.
