Saudi Arabia Revises Eid Holiday Policy: Eid Holiday Policy Changed From Next Year
The Saudi government has officially introduced changes to the public holiday policy for Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha, which will take effect from next year. These amendments aim to bring greater consistency to leave periods across all government institutions.
“Employees working under government institutions and the civil service system will now receive a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 working days off for each of the two major Islamic festivals.”
This decision was approved by the Saudi Cabinet, revising the earlier policy and providing a clear framework for Eid holidays in the public sector.
Policy Excludes Special Contracts
However, this policy does not apply to employees working under special contracts, particularly those in ministries or support agencies that follow internal regulatory systems.
Standardization with Flexibility
The newly approved amendment is intended to standardize Eid holiday durations across departments, while allowing operational flexibility for specific institutions.
“The update marks a significant step in standardizing public sector leave while maintaining flexibility for institutions with unique operational needs.”
This move is expected to improve administrative clarity
