Trump Claims Iran’s Key Nuclear Sites ‘Completely Destroyed’

20 July, 2025 15:05

US President Donald Trump has responded strongly to reports of damage at one of Iran’s nuclear facilities, asserting that Iran’s three main nuclear sites have been “completely destroyed and disabled.”

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said, “If Iran wants to restart its nuclear program, it will have to begin again from three entirely different locations, which will take years.”

The remarks have heightened tensions at a sensitive time. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, recently underscored the importance of “serious, sincere diplomacy” with the United States.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated that Iran is open to resuming nuclear talks, but emphasized that this would require genuine commitment from the United States.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s foreign ministers’ meeting, Araghchi reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program remains entirely peaceful. He stressed that the ongoing nuclear dispute must be resolved in a manner that serves the interests of both parties.

Calling the 2015 nuclear agreement a “diplomatic success,” Araghchi underscored that a balanced and lasting solution can only be achieved through serious negotiations.

Addressing regional tensions, Araghchi accused Israel of unjustifiably waging war against Iran. He stated that while Iran does not seek to escalate the conflict, any future acts of aggression would be met with a firm response.
