Sharp Rise in Rape Incidents in India, Modi Government Criticized for Empty Promises
India has been witnessing a sharp rise in crimes against women during Modi’s tenure. The rape culture is emerging as a serious concern in India while Modi government is being criticized for empty promises.
The slogan “Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter” remains far from reality as crimes against women continue to escalate.
According to Hindustan Times, in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, an 18-year-old girl was abducted and gang-raped. The victim was returning from a birthday party with a friend when two men kidnapped her. The victim’s father reported that the perpetrators took her to a field and committed the assault.
The friend managed to escape and inform the authorities. The victim is currently in critical condition and admitted to the district headquarters hospital. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the suspects.
Incidents of crimes against women are increasingly reported across India, prompting widespread protests from opposition parties. Opposition leaders accuse the BJP government of failing to ensure law and order over the past year. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Priyabrat Mohapatra said, “We will continue to surround the SP office until all culprits are arrested.”
Critics say India has become a dangerous place for women under the current government, with justice remaining out of reach.
