Modi Government Silent on Operation Sindoor Failure as Opposition Raises Tough Questions
Following defeats on multiple fronts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi avoided direct responses in the Lok Sabha, drawing sharp criticism from the opposition over the government’s handling of “Operation Sindoor” and its silence on US President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks.
The opposition criticized what they described as a surrender before President Trump, suggesting that the Modi government’s silence indicated underlying issues. Rahul Gandhi stated that Prime Minister Modi did not refute President Trump’s claims, and added that the entire nation was aware of the actual situation and the truth behind it.
Rahul Gandhi further suggested that Modi refrained from calling Trump a liar out of fear that Trump might then openly reveal the full truth. According to Gandhi, Modi’s hesitation to speak out could lead to Trump exposing uncomfortable facts.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also criticized the Prime Minister, stating that Modi lacked the courage to confront Trump’s statements. Kharge claimed that there was something suspicious behind Modi’s silence and implied that this silence was the reason Modi did not respond to Trump.
Kharge questioned why and how the Modi government had agreed to third-party involvement in the dialogue process. He demanded that the public be informed about the weakness or compulsion that led India to allow US mediation in the matter.
He also pointed out that despite delivering a two-hour speech, Prime Minister Modi did not mention President Trump even once. Kharge accused the Modi government of lying and damaging the nation’s image, stating that the government was spreading falsehoods to cover its failures.
He condemned what he described as the Modi government’s lies and its role in tarnishing India’s international reputation. Kharge added that the story of the Modi government’s incompetence and failures was expanding, with a new chapter being added every day.
It is notable that President Donald Trump has, on several occasions, expressed his willingness to mediate in efforts to de-escalate tensions and achieve a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
