‘Operation Mahadev’ – BJP Ploy to Divert Attention from Realities of Pahalgam Attack

31 July, 2025 16:45

After 100 days of silence, the Indian government suddenly launched “Operation Mahadev” to cover up the Pahalgam attack.

During a debate in the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah announced the killing of three alleged terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. During the parliamentary session, leaders of various opposition parties strongly criticized this so-called operation.

Naming the operation ‘Mahadev’, a religious reference, is nothing but a failed attempt by the Modi government to incite public sentiment. Presenting those killed in fake encounters as terrorists is a tactic to relieve Modi from mounting political pressure. Insensitive and preoccupied with foreign tours, Modi did not even find it necessary to meet the families affected by the Pahalgam attack.

Without accepting responsibility for the intelligence failure, three key ministries gave vague and inconsistent statements regarding the incident.

If the government had prior intelligence about the attack, how did the terrorists manage to reach Pahalgam?

A government that boasts of satellite surveillance and tight security — why was it unable to detect the movement of a handful of terrorists?

The ease with which terrorists infiltrated and executed the attack exposes the glaring failures of Indian intelligence. Despite Pahalgam being a sensitive tourist location, the lack of an immediate response raises serious questions.

While the Modi government remains busy fabricating narratives, the victims of the Pahalgam attack are still waiting for justice. Turning the so-called war on terrorism into a political slogan has become Modi’s trademark.

After ‘Operation Sindoor’, this ‘Operation Mahadev’ is yet another dangerous conspiracy rooted in Hindutva ideology and extremism.
