India Again Violates Diplomatic Norms, Harasses Pakistani Diplomats

11 August, 2025 19:08

New Delhi: India has once again come under criticism for violating established diplomatic etiquette, as the harassment of Pakistani diplomats in the Indian capital shows no signs of stopping. According to reliable sources, officials of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in New Delhi are being subjected to persistent and invasive surveillance. Diplomats have reported that they are being followed in public spaces, and unknown individuals are monitoring their movements on a daily basis.

These actions, sources say, are part of a broader campaign to make the working and living conditions of Pakistani diplomats increasingly difficult. Reports indicate that basic utilities such as gas and internet services at their residences are being deliberately disrupted. Such interruptions not only cause inconvenience to the diplomats and their families but also hamper their ability to perform official duties effectively.

In addition to these disruptions, there have been repeated incidents where Pakistani diplomats are being pressured to vacate their rented accommodations before the expiry of their lease agreements. This demand reportedly comes without any legal justification, and in some cases, within months of signing the contracts. So far, four to five Pakistani diplomats have been ordered to leave their homes prematurely, creating further instability for the mission staff.

Pakistan views these measures as a direct breach of international diplomatic norms, including provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which safeguard the rights and privileges of diplomatic personnel. Islamabad has raised similar concerns in the past, accusing India of creating a hostile environment for its diplomatic staff. The latest incidents are expected to deepen tensions between the two countries, already strained over political and security issues.
