Kulgam Operation Ends in Indian Army’s Humiliating Defeat — Starving Soldiers Forced to Eat Dirt After 12 Days
The ongoing Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Kulgam has become the longest battle in decades between the occupying Indian forces and Kashmiri resistance, ending in what observers are calling one of the Indian Army’s most humiliating recent failures.
According to reports, over the course of twelve days, nine Indian soldiers were killed, while helicopters and drones deployed during the operation were rendered ineffective. Indian sources have revealed that soldiers, cut off from supplies, were left without food or water for days, forcing some to eat dirt to survive.
The 12-day operation eventually collapsed, with the Indian Army retreating empty-handed. On the final day, two officers and soldiers were killed and 14 others critically injured, including a Lieutenant Colonel. In a final message, one soldier reported, “Nothing to eat or drink for five days, soldiers surviving by eating dirt.”
Relatives of slain soldiers have made shocking claims, with one stating that those trapped under continuous gunfire had no hope of survival. The army’s failure to deliver essential rations and equipment reportedly left its leadership helpless.
Criticism has also emerged from the families of the dead. “The government and army are only brave in words, but in reality helpless in front of the enemy,” said one family member.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leadership has called the Kulgam operation the Indian Army’s biggest recent embarrassment, accusing the Modi government of using “puppet military operations to hide political failures.”
A local journalist noted that after suffering humiliation in the recent four-day war with Pakistan and engaging in a tariff dispute with the United States, the Modi government “put soldiers’ lives at stake for a media stunt.”
