Modi’s Hindutva Ideology, Extremist Politics Destroy India’s Democratic Credibility

The Modi government has become a serious threat to India’s secular identity and national harmony. On Independence Day, Modi’s speech based on RSS ideology sparked a new controversy in India, inviting criticism from Congress leaders, who have termed Modi’s Independence Day speech extremely dangerous and worrying for democratic values.

Congress leader and MP Jairam Ramesh said, “Modi’s praise of the RSS on Independence Day is a ‘failed attempt’ to appease the organization. Calling out to the RSS from the Red Fort is troubling for secular India.”

MP Jairam Ramesh added, “A Hindutva-based speech is an open violation of the spirit of constitutional, secular democracy. Modi has become decisively weak. After September, Modi’s tenure extension depends on the mercy of Mohan Bhagwat.

He added, “Prime Minister Modi looked tired today; he will soon retire. Prime Minister Modi delivered the same old speech — he had nothing new to say, said Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leader Deep Singh Puri, sharing a poster, said, “Do not dishonor the martyrs.”

He added, “Mr. Modi, no matter how hard you try, you cannot become Mahatma, Netaji, or Bhagat Singh, said Deep Singh Puri. Mr. Modi, do not disgrace the martyrs who fought and died for freedom, said Deep Singh Puri.”

In the Lok Sabha, Congress chief whip Manickam Tagore also raised several questions on Modi’s Hindutva narrative.

For India’s freedom, the RSS never fought against the British, said Congress leader Manickam Tagore.

“On every Independence Day, the BJP tries to distort history and portray traitors as heroes,” said K. C. Venugopal.

The so-called secular India slogan by Modi is nothing but deviation from democracy and strengthening of Hindutva. Modi’s extremist Hindutva ideology has distorted the very identity of India.

On Independence Day, sidelining all other communities to strengthen the RSS narrative reflects Modi’s intellectual decline.
