UN Chief Urges Two-State Solution for Peace in Palestine, Israel

23 September, 2025 09:08

New York: During an international conference focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres strongly advocated for the two-state solution, calling it the only path toward lasting peace in the region.

Guterres praised global efforts to revive the peace process and emphasized the urgency of resolving the ongoing crisis in Gaza. He described the humanitarian situation there as “horrific” and called for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered delivery of aid.

“The creation of a Palestinian state is not charity — it is a right,” said Guterres. He firmly stated that peace is not possible in the region without a two-state solution, where both Israel and Palestine can coexist peacefully and securely.

Guterres warned that without progress toward two states, extremism will continue to grow, and violence will remain a threat to the region and beyond. He also questioned those who oppose the solution: “If not two states, then what is the alternative?”

He concluded by urging the international community to support this roadmap and to hold those accountable who obstruct peace efforts.

Key Points:

  • UN Chief supports a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.

  • Calls the Gaza situation “horrific” and demands immediate ceasefire.

  • Says Palestinian statehood is a right, not a favor.

  • Warns of increased extremism without a political solution.

  • Urges action from world leaders to support peace and justice.

This speech comes at a time of heightened tensions and renewed calls for international intervention to end the suffering in Gaza and work toward a long-term solution.
