Trump Sees Gaza Peace Talks as “Promising” and “Encouraging”

27 September, 2025 13:37

US President Donald Trump described the ongoing negotiations for peace in Gaza as “highly purposeful and encouraging.” He assured that talks will continue until a viable peace agreement is reached.

In a statement on Saturday, Trump said that Middle Eastern leaders are personally involved and all parties have been consulted. “This is the first time we are seeing extraordinary sincerity and enthusiasm for a settlement,” he added.

Trump said Hamas has been fully briefed on the progress, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also on board. He emphasized that unity in the region is essential for any lasting peace deal and expressed hope that an agreement could be within reach.

The peace effort comes amid growing international concern over Gaza’s ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis. Previous diplomatic efforts have failed, but US officials say this new approach has received strong commitment from regional and international players.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump’s plan includes creating an international transitional authority to govern Gaza. This authority would be supported by the United Nations and led by former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, with Palestinian experts involved. Its role would be to manage governance, oversee reconstruction, and help build long-term political solutions. The idea has sparked initial discussions among regional partners but faces questions about acceptance by local groups.

Experts note that this new US effort aims to regain influence in the Middle East conflict. Unlike past plans focusing on bilateral talks, this one involves a global figure leading an international body.

However, analysts warn that deep distrust between Hamas and Israel, internal Palestinian divisions, and concerns from neighboring countries could still block progress.

Despite challenges, Trump vowed to keep negotiating. “We will continue to negotiate until a successful deal is concluded,” he said, signaling Washington’s commitment to the process.

The coming weeks will show whether this new diplomatic push can overcome years of setbacks and bring stability to Gaza.
