Kashmir Council EU Holds Protest in Front of Indian Embassy in Brussels on black day

27 October, 2025 23:58

Brussels: A peaceful protest was held in front of the Indian Embassy in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, today (Monday, 27th October), marking the day of India’s occupation of Kashmir as a Black Day.
The protest, organized by the Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life who despite bad and cold weather attended the protest demonstration.
Kashmiris residing in Europe, their sympathizers, freedom advocates, officials of human rights organizations, and representatives and workers of various political and social groups participated in gathering.
It is noteworthy that on 27th October 1947, Indian forces illegally occupied a large part of Jammu and Kashmir, which is now referred to as Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
This protest at the European headquarters Brussels is occurring at a time when continuous oppression and tyranny persist in IIOJK, and a large number of political leaders and activists, human rights defenders, and journalists remain imprisoned by the Indian occupation authorities.
Holding placards and banners, the protesters raised the slogan against Indian occupation of Kashmir and atrocities on the people of Kashmir.
Prominent personalities who attended the protest were Rao Mustajab, Ch. Khalid Joshi Shiraz Butt, Ch Naseer, Saleem Mehman, Khalid Raja, and Shazia Aslam.
On the occasion, Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed said that the international community must pressure India to immediately halt the atrocities in IIOJK, repeal its black laws, release the prisoners, end its illegal occupation of Kashmir, and fulfill its promises regarding the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.
He particularly demanded immediately release of Kashmiri leaders Yasim Malik and Shabbir Ahmad Shah, human rights defender Khurram Parvez, journalist Sajjad Gul and all other Kashmir prisoners.
Other speakers said that the United Nations should ensure the implementation of its own resolutions on Kashmir and conduct a free and impartial plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing the people of Kashmir to decide their political future according to their own will.
They stated, “We want to send a message to the Indian government that Kashmiris never accept India’s illegal occupation. Instead, the Kashmiri nation wants to decide its future in a free and independent atmosphere.”
