BJP Uses Anti-Muslim Hate for Elections, Report Says

29 October, 2025 13:55

Islamabad: Reports have revealed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India has been using religious hate, extremism, and anti-Muslim rhetoric as a major election strategy.

According to The Quint, BJP and its affiliates have spread Hindutva propaganda to influence voters, particularly in Bihar.

The party used offensive graphics labeling Muslims as “intruders” and during general elections, 373 hate speeches were recorded, with 354 targeting Muslims. Indian Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly justified remarks suggesting that Muslims should not be allowed to stay if they are “intruders.”

BJP leaders, including Giri Raj Singh and Ashok Kumar Yadav, made statements discouraging Muslims from using government facilities or voting if they opposed the ruling party. In addition, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched anti-Muslim campaigns such as “Development vs Burqa.”

Opposition leaders have accused the BJP of deliberately stoking religious divisions for political gain, saying the party often plays the Hindu-Muslim card during elections. Critics also slammed the Election Commission of India for failing to take action against hate speech despite regulations.

Analysts say Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s extremist policies have turned India into a country marked by hate, division, and intolerance, making life increasingly difficult for Muslims.
