The Russian Embassy in Pakistan has firmly dismissed as “100% fake” a viral video circulating on social media that falsely shows President Vladimir Putin issuing threats to Pakistan amidst escalating tensions between Islamabad and Kabul. The misleading video, which was widely shared by pro-Afghan and Indian accounts on X, purportedly depicted Putin warning Pakistan’s military and expressing support for Afghanistan.
In response, the Russian Embassy clarified that the footage had been manipulated and dubbed, stating it had no connection to current regional affairs. The embassy further explained that the original video came from a press conference following a Russian Geographical Society Board of Trustees meeting on October 23, 2025, where President Putin did not mention Pakistan or Afghanistan.

“Russia advocates peaceful, diplomatic engagement to resolve differences between Islamabad and Kabul,” the embassy emphasized in its official statement. Moscow, it added, continues to encourage both countries—deemed “friendly to Russia”—to engage in dialogue, especially on issues like counterterrorism and regional stability.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have recently escalated due to border clashes and mutual accusations, especially following an attack from Afghan territory on October 11.
