Egypt Working on Peace Plan to End Lebanon-Israel Tensions
Cairo: Egypt is preparing a new peace plan to help end the ongoing Lebanon-Israel conflict, according to a report by Israeli broadcaster Makan 33, part of the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (KAN).
Arab diplomatic sources said that Cairo’s proposal aims to enforce the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel and to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas inside Lebanese territory, known as the “five points.”
Under the plan, Hezbollah would agree to pause all military activities south of the Litani River, helping to stabilize the border region. Both Hezbollah and the Lebanese government have stated that coordination is already underway among all parties, in line with the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024.
However, the report notes that Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire terms by continuing airstrikes, ground incursions, and occupation of Lebanese land. Israel has also been accused of ignoring the U.S.-led committee known as the “Mechanism”, which was created to monitor and protect the ceasefire.
Egypt’s diplomatic move is seen as an effort to restore calm and prevent further escalation between the two neighboring countries, while ensuring that international agreements are respected.
