NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Vows Netanyahu Will Face Arrest If He Enters New York

05 November, 2025 11:39

New York : Zohran Mamdani, the first Muslim mayor of New York City, has taken a strong stand in support of Palestinians by announcing that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be legally arrested if he enters the city.

Speaking after his historic victory, Mamdani said New York is a city that respects human rights and international law, and no one accused of war crimes will get special treatment.

The International Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu in November 2024 for alleged war crimes and human rights violations. Netanyahu has regularly visited New York for United Nations meetings, but this is the first time an elected U.S. leader has publicly pledged such action.

During his campaign, Mamdani also promised public-friendly initiatives, including free bus service, rent freezes, government-run grocery stores, and free childcare. His strong support for Palestinian rights has inspired Muslims around the world and marked a new era of justice-focused politics in New York.
