Iran Urges UN to Hold US and Israel Accountable for War Crimes
Tehran: Iran has called on the United Nations to hold the United States and Israel accountable for alleged war crimes.
In a letter of protest, Iranian Ambassador Amir Saeed Iravani cited a recent statement by former US President Donald Trump as clear evidence of war crimes and demanded immediate action.
According to Iravani, on November 6, Trump admitted in a media statement that he led an Israeli attack on Iran in June 2025. Trump’s words, “I was in charge of this attack” and “It was a great day for Israel,” serve as direct proof of US involvement in the assault, Iran said.
Iravani stated that these attacks by the US and Israel violated Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. The strikes reportedly resulted in the deaths of 1,064 people, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.
He emphasized that both countries must be held fully accountable for the attacks, destruction of civilian property, and targeting of nuclear facilities.
Iran has requested that the UN issue its demands as an official Security Council document and ensure that Iran receives full justice and compensation under international law.
