Yemeni Army Warns of Renewed Military Action if Israel Resumes War in Gaza

Sana’a: The Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Youssef Hassan al-Madani, has warned that Yemen will return to the battlefield if Israel restarts its war in the Gaza Strip.

In a message to fighters of the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, General Madani said on Sunday, “If the enemy resumes the war in Gaza, we will return to the battlefield by carrying out military operations.” He added that Yemen would “keep its promise and stand by the Palestinian people, no matter what the cost.”

His remarks echoed earlier statements by Ansarullah (Houthi) leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi, who said the movement is preparing for a new round of confrontation with Israel. Speaking last week, al-Houthi declared that Yemen emerged “stronger than ever” from previous clashes and is ready for any future conflict.

Since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemeni forces have carried out multiple military operations in support of Palestinians. These included strikes on Israeli targets and ships linked to the occupied territories, as well as a maritime blockade aimed at disrupting Israel’s trade and supply routes.

With a fragile ceasefire currently in place between Israel and Hamas, Yemen has warned that any violation of the truce will be met with a “severe and decisive” response from the Yemeni Armed Forces.
