Israel Seeks ICC to Cancel Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant

18 November, 2025 15:33

The Israeli Foreign Ministry on Monday announced that Israel has asked that the International Criminal Court (ICC) revoke the detention warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as disqualify Prosecutor Karim Khan from handling Israel-related cases.

The ICC, previously the Israeli occupation, seeking to overturn arrest warrants issued for the Israeli PM and former defense minister, rejected both, who are accused of committing war crimes and war crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

ICC in this regard, in a press release, ruled, reaffirming its earlier finding, that both officials bear criminal responsibility for oppressions committed during the currently happening war on Gaza and ruled that the Israeli regime’s attempt to rescind the warrants was “not an appealable issue.”

However, according to the Israeli Ministry, “Israel Today filed a motion with the ICC Appeals Chamber to disqualify Prosecutor Karim Khan from participating in proceedings concerning Israel.” Furthermore, Israel is asking the court to revoke the unfounded arrest warrants issued by the prosecutor against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant”

The Israeli Ministry, further accusing Karim Khan of political bias, added that alleging his actions were intended to distract public attention from ongoing sexual harassment allegations against him.
It is pertinent to note that in late November 2024, the ICC had issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant after Khan filed a case earlier this year stating that the two were mainly responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Israeli genocide that began back in October 2023.

Following Donald Trump’s return to office for the second time, the application filer, Khan, has faced severe difficulties, as the Trump administration imposed sanctions against him in February.
