Israeli Occupation Forces chief defines Gaza’s Yellow Line as “New Border”
Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, chief of staff of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF), stated on Sunday that the yellow line in Gaza, to which occupation forces have retreated, now serves as a “new border,” dividing the Gaza Strip from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories, as the military statement stated.
General Eyal Zamir stated that the Israeli occupation forces continue to have operational authority over a significant portion of Gaza and plan to stay stationed along those security lines in an interview with reserve soldiers within the Strip.
Under the US-brokered ceasefire, Israeli forces redeployed behind the Yellow Line, which he defined as a zone for ongoing military operations as well as a forward protective perimeter for neighboring settlements.
The comments reflect the occupation’s view of the line as a long-term land grab and ethnic cleansing rather than a temporary positioning measure as defined by the previously agreed deal.
Under the ceasefire terms negotiated with US mediation, Israeli forces pulled back to positions behind the Yellow Line while the broader framework for the agreement continues to be implemented.
Zamir’s statement reveals the true goal of the occupation, which is to turn what was intended to be a temporary redeployment line into a de facto boundary that solidifies territorial theft.
The Israeli regime is signaling a long-term strategy of land expropriation, demographic engineering, and the gradual annexation of Gaza by redefining the “Yellow Line” as a permanent barrier. This is a continuation of its larger expansionist doctrine disguised as ceasefire compliance.
